Telangana’s Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency goes to a by-election on November 11, following the death of BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath. The contest is triangular, with Congress’s Naveen Yadav (backed by AIMIM), BRS’s Sunita Gopinath, and BJP’s L. Deepak Reddy as the main contenders. Around 4.01 lakh voters are eligible to cast their votes, with security measures including drone surveillance, CRPF deployment, and web-casting in place.

The bypoll has seen intense campaigning, with Telangana CM A. Revanth Reddy and senior leaders from all three parties actively canvassing. Sheikhpet, Rehmat Nagar, and Vengalrao Nagar faced delays due to EVM technical glitches.
Polling has not started at Booth No. 30 in Shaikpet and Booths 165 and 166 in Rehmat Nagar.
Voters are standing in long queues as polling is yet to begin at these locations.
In Srinagar Colony’s Nagarjuna Community Hall, polling has also not started due to a power cut.

Political anxiety is running high in Jubilee Hills, not over voters, but over booth agents. With 407 polling stations spread across 139 locations, the fight for reliable booth level agents (BLAs) has become the latest battleground for all major parties. A senior BJP leader, speaking on condition of anonymity, admitted to growing unease within the party. “We simply don’t have enough party workers to serve as BLAs,” the leader said. “Announcing our agents too early exposes them to the risk of being poached or pressured by rival factions. Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday held a breakfast meeting with all ministers and TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud at his residence and instructed them to stay put in the city as far as possible, until the polling is completed. Sources told TOI that the CM wanted the ministers to remain alert and be available to party leaders and cadres, especially the polling booth teams, over the phone, and to regularly monitor the polling process. BRS leadership has asked its party workers and leaders in Jubilee Hills constituency to be on alert, suspecting luring of voters by rival parties. The party urged Telangana chief electoral officer Sudarshan Reddy to intervene and take action against officials allegedly misusing their authority. Telangana’s Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency goes to a high-stakes by-election on November 11, with 4.01 lakh voters eligible to cast their ballots. The bypoll was necessitated by the death of BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath in June. Though 58 candidates are in the fray, the contest is mainly triangular between Congress’s Naveen Yadav (backed by AIMIM), BRS’s Sunita Gopinath, and BJP’s L. Deepak Reddy.

Polling will run from 7 AM to 6 PM across 407 polling stations, with 226 marked as critical. Around 1,800 police personnel, CRPF units, drone surveillance, web-casting, and GPS-monitored EVM transport have been deployed to ensure smooth and secure voting.

The campaign witnessed unprecedented attention, with Telangana CM A. Revanth Reddy and all Congress ministers canvassing actively. Senior BRS leaders, including K. T. Rama Rao, and Union ministers supported their party candidates through padayatras, roadshows, and street-corner meetings. The bypoll is seen as a test of CM Revanth Reddy’s performance, with a loss potentially strengthening BRS and BJP, while a defeat for BRS could further weaken the party after recent setbacks.

Muslim voters, estimated at one lakh, are expected to play a decisive role. The administration has banned liquor sales in polling areas and carried out voter awareness campaigns, especially targeting first-time voters aged 18–19.

With intense campaigning and high political stakes, the Jubilee Hills by-election is being closely watched as a key indicator of Telangana’s political landscape.
