HYDERABAD: Commissioner for Food Safety,
Telangana, issued orders on Thursday for extension of prohibition of manufacture, storage, distribution and sale of gutka, pan masala, chewing tobacco products for a period of one year with effect from January 10, 2018.
“Any product which contains tobacco and nicotine as ingredients and chewing tobacco products like chap tobacco, pure tobacco, kaini, kharra, scented tobacco, flavoured tobacco packed in pouches, sachets, container etc (with whatever name) are prohibited in the entire Telangana state for a period of one year,” read the order.
As per the notification issued no person should indulge in manufacture, storage, transportation and sale and if found doing so, will be punished with imprisonment and fine under the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
