Hyderabad: Indian IT services giant Tata Consultancy Services accounted for 10-12% of Telangana’s 1.83 lakh crore IT exports in financial year 2021-22,
TCS senior vice president & global head of CMT (communications, media & technology) business group V Rajanna said on Thursday.
Hyderabad, where TCS first set up shop in 1979, has emerged as IT services and consulting biggie’s second largest centre in India with a headcount of over 90,000 employees out of the 6.35 lakh employees the company has in India, Rajanna said.
Though Hyderabad centre is already spread over seven locations in the city, including the largest one at Adibatla near Shamshabad airport, TCS is expanding its footprint further with a smaller centre with around 700 techies to be set up in the city over the next 6-7 months, Rajanna said.
Pointing out that TCS has been doubling its employee count every four years, he said in financial year 2021-22 alone the company saw a net addition of around 10,800 employees in Hyderabad.
Elaborating on the cutting edge work being done out of Hyderabad, he said TCS has invested in creating a strong innovation hub here by setting up multiple centres of excellence (CoEs) on 5G, nextgen networks, AI & ML, 6G and satellite communications, among others.
“TCS has provided a framework around incubation infrastructure, skill development and academic guidance in Hyderabad,” he said.
He saidCMT business group partners with industry leaders from sectors such as semiconductors, network technology, electronics manufacturing as well as media and communications service providers.
“Our student development programme has benefitted over 20,000 students across 85 colleges in the region. Our remote internship programme has trained college students of 14 universities on nextgen technologies,” he said.
