INDORE: A day after crime branch of Indore police busted an inter-state racket of selling fake school, college mark-sheets to candidates looking for jobs and pursue higher studies, 8 accomplices of the gang were arrested, with kingpin Aftab Hussain already in the police custody. One of the accused is on the run. Ten arrests have been made so far.
Arrested duo Aftab and his cousin Athar spilled the beans and named others involved in the case.
The police on Friday arrested Brij Vallabh Maheshwari from Gwalior, who worked as an agent and is said to be expert in providing degrees of Jiwaji University, Gwalior. He worked as an employee with a private training centre.
The other arrested are Raziq Hussain, resident of Hina colony in Khajrana area and Sunny alias Jiwaji Suryavanshi of Khajrana area. Mark-sheets and laptop from Raziq's house were also seized.
A massive search was launched for Akhilesh Chouhan of Bhind district, the master manipulator in providing mark-sheets of X and XII. Director of Sun Shine School in Khajrana area, Sahab Khan, has also been taken into custody. The other arrested are Pravin Sharma of Venkatesh Vihar, Rajesh Tiwari and permanent resident of Jhabua district Prafful Soni and Abhishek Jaiswal.
ASP crime Dilip Soni said, "It has been learnt that many candidates have secured jobs using fake documents. More arrests are likely in the case. The racket was operational for four years in Madhya Pradesh, UP, Bihar and Gujarat."
On Thursday, the police arrested Aftab Hussain, 32, and Mohammad Athar Khan, 40. They were held from their rented flat in Alok Nagar in Kanadia. Hussain is said to be the kingpin of the gang and Khan joined him in April 2013.
The duo used to work through agents. They sold Class X and XII mark-sheets, besides graduation certificate for Rs 10,000 and Rs 20,000 for school certificates. The amount was charged around Rs 70,000 to Rs 90,000 for D Pharma, LLB and others. Some 300-400 fake mark-sheets, laptop, printer, scanner, 50-60 rubber stamps and documents were seized. The fake mark-sheets are of Jiwaji University, MP State Open School, Board of Secondary Education, Delhi, Bundelkhand University, Jhansi, State Council of Vocational Training and MP Board, Bhopal. A case has been registered against the duo at Kanadia police station.
