Madhya Pradesh triple murder on New Year’s Eve: Jeweller, wife among three shot dead at home in Mandsaur; weapons recovered

INDORE: Three people, including a jewellery trader and his wife, were shot dead in a house in the Gol Chouraha area of Mandsaur district of Madhya Pradesh on the New Year eve on WednesdayThe deceased were identified as trader Dilip Jain, his wife Rekha Jain and one Vikas Soni. The motive and the sequence of events were not established till this report was filed.Residents alerted police after hearing gunshots from the house at around 8.30 pm. Senior officials, including DIG Nimish Agarwal, SP Vinod Kumar Meena and additional SP TS Baghel, reached the spot with additional force and secured the area while forensic teams began inspection.DIG Agarwal said Dilip Jain worked with gold provided by traders from Mandsaur and nearby towns for jewellery making. Police sources indicated that several kilograms of gold belonging to different businessmen may have been with him, and commercial dealings are being examined as a key angle."All angles are being investigated. His financial transactions and any possible rivalry connected to the trade is also being tracked," said DIG Agarwal.According to the preliminary investigation, Vikas Soni had come to meet the couple at their home before the shooting took place. All three were later found dead inside the house."A pistol and a knife were recovered from the scene, while CCTV DVRs from outside the residence have been taken into custody for examination," he said.SP Vinod Kumar Meena confirmed that the bodies were sent for postmortem at the district hospital and CCTV DVRs installed outside the house were seized.Heavy police presence remained in the locality through the night as crowds gathered outside the residence.Police are yet to ascertain Vikas's relation with the jeweller.
