JAMSHEDPUR: The three-day Jamshedpur flower show at Gopal Maidan, which concluded on Tuesday, is not only a much awaited event for nature lovers but also for gardening enthusiasts.
Organised by the Horticulture Society, the event hosts several sessions by experts on gardening tips and tricks.
The president of the Horticulture Society, Sumita Nupur, said around 300 people attended the sessions on gardening and floriculture.
Expressing satisfaction over the footfall of participants, Nupur said, “Over the years, the numbers are increasing which highlights the popularity of the subject among the people of the city. I am confident that more people will join the sessions in the coming years.”
Speaking to TOI, Narsingh Mahato, who had put up a stall at the programme, said, “Every year, I see more and more people coming to my stall not only to purchase products but also to learn about gardening tips. Everyday I have sold products worth more than Rs one lakh.”
Gautam Sinha and Arun Chaudhury from Sonari area said that they are thinking of starting gardening at their house and had come up to the stall to learn how to take the baby steps.
Sunil Bahadur, a gardening enthusiast, said, “The nurseries selling various species of plants was the main attraction of the show. Also, the plants sold here were comparatively cheaper and of better quality..”
