Jamshedpur: The district police found about 150kg of marijuana from a car near Tatanagar railway station during vehicle checking in the early hours on Tuesday. The market price of the marijuana cache is estimated at Rs 12 lakh.
A five-member police team from Bagbera police station, led by DSP (law and order) B N Singh began the surprise vehicle checking on a tip-off.

Soon, an unidentified person was seen driving away fast from Burmamines towards Hata-Chaibasa road. Police followed the car after noticing it was missing a number plate and finally overtook it near the station roundabout. However, the driver fled from the car taking advantage of the early morning rush of migrant labourers near the station.
The police found 20 bags of marijuana weighing about 150kg. Earlier, the police had received information about a white car traveling from Burmamines to Hata carrying marijuana for sale in Cuttack, Odisha.
"The search operation is on to nab the person who was smuggling the narcotics," said SSP Anoop T Mathew. He also said that investigation is on to identify the vehicle owner.
In the past, the district police found smuggled marijuana weighing 105kg, 100kg and 84kg from different parts of the city between 2013 and 2015.
