KANPUR: Four members of a marriage party were killed while three others suffered serious injuries when the SUV they were traveling in crashed into a tree on the roadside on the national highway in Banda district on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.
Driver Rajeev alias Raju Tiwari (48), Devraj Dwivedi (65), Lakshmi Dwivedi (70) and Kailashi, who were travelling in the SUV were killed.
Two of the injured have been referred to Kanpur, while one is undergoing treatment at the Banda district hospital.
The 'baraat' (marriage procession) of Ankit Singh, a resident of Tindwari, had gone to Kurhun village of Badausa on Sunday.
"The accident occurred in Turra village of Badausa when the driver lost control on the vehicle ," said police.
Police reached the spot and admitted the injured to hospital.
