Minor girl crushed to death by tractor

Kanpur: A six-year-old girl died after being hit by a tractor in Naramau village under the Bithoor police station limits, late Wednesday.According to police, the victim, Ritika, a Class I students was playing outside her house at around 7:30pm. At that moment, a tractor travelling from Mandhana towards Kalyanpur arrived at high speed and hit the girl, crushing her, and killing her instantly.Witnesses alleged that the tractor driver was drunk and could not keep the vehicle under control.He attempted to escape but the villagers caught him, beat him up and then handed him over to the police.Bithoor inspector, Ashok Kumar Saroj, said the body has been sent for post-mortem. He added that a report will be filed and action taken on the basis of the family’s complaint.
