Thrissur: CPM district secretary K V Abdul Khader has said his party will take all legal steps against PMLA court’s decision to grant prosecution permission in Karuvannur Cooperative Bank scam. He strongly criticised the decision to prosecute CPM and said the move to prosecute a political party in an incident was antithetical to the basic democratic norms.
“ED has arraigned CPM as an accused in the case. Listing a political party as an accused in a case is an unparalleled move and we will fight it legally even in the highest court of the country, if needed. There is no question of CPM surrendering before the dictatorial steps of
BJP govt at the Centre and their investigating agencies,” Khader told the media here.
Former minister and CPM functionary A C Moideen, who is an accused in the case has also alleged that central agencies have fabricated the case as per the directive of BJP leaders. “There are several judicial institutions above PMLA court and CPM will challenge the order wherever needed,” Moideen said.
Meanwhile, BJP state vice-president K K Aneeshkumar said PMLA court order has vindicated allegations his party had made against CPM functionaries in the scam. He demanded resignation of K Radhakrishnan from MP post and Moideen from the post of MLA, as PMLA court has found prima facie substance in the allegations against them.
