Mahalaxmi development plan survey starts on May 2
Kolhapur: The preliminary survey for the Rs 1,445 crore Mahalaxmi Temple Area Development Plan will begin on Saturday, May 2, with three teams set to collect property-related information from residents in the project area.Collector Vijay Rathod, who is also the acting head of the Paschim Maharashtra Devasthan Samiti, has appealed to residents to provide accurate information to facilitate smooth implementation of the project.The plan received state govt approval on May 6, 2025, and aims to restore the historic Mahalaxmi temple and its surroundings to their original grandeur. As part of the preparatory phase, a detailed survey of properties within the notified development area will be carried out starting this weekend.A coordination meeting was held at the collector's office on Wednesday evening to review the survey process and implementation strategy.Provincial officer of Karvir tehsil Mousami Chougule said three survey teams comprising officials from the revenue department, municipal corporation and city survey office have been constituted. "The teams will visit property owners and fill in survey forms. Accurate information from citizens is crucial, as further action for area development will be based on the data collected," she said, urging full cooperation from stakeholders.
