Buddha daughter denies taking money from Tatas

KOLKATA: Former chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee's daughter Suchetana has denied that she was ever associated with an NGO called Aranyak or that she had accepted money from the Tatas for the organization.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Suchetana clarified that the 'Aranyak' she was associated with was not an NGO, but merely an open forum which organized an annual wildlife film festival from 2004 to 2007.

"Various nature-lovers' and wildlife-lovers' organizations were part of the forum. I was not the only individual associated with it. Along with the state forest department, the West Bengal government and Nandan, Aranyak organized the film festival to raise awareness about nature and wildlife. The forum has never received any money from the government, nor have I ever benefitted financially from the organization. All the relevant documents are with the present government and they will clearly reveal the truth," said Suchetana.
She added that Trinamool Congress leaders and ministers were running a false campaign around Aranyak to defame her and her father. "The charge that I have received money from Tata is entirely false. Those who are saying this have no proof to substantiate the charge," added Suchetana.
