Kolkata Doctor Rape and Murder Case Live: After 42 days, junior doctors in Kolkata have finally called off their strike. This decision was made by the protesting doctors after a General Body meeting held on Thursday. The prolonged strike had significantly impacted the healthcare sector. With the strike being called off, normal services will now resume.The doctors will march from Swasthya Bhavan to CGO on Friday to end the siege and are set to join services from SaturdayPreviously, the West Bengal Medical Council (WBMC) has cancelled the registration of former principal of RG Kar Sandip Ghosh on Thursday, according to an official. Ghosh, who is in CBI custody in connection with the rape-murder case of a woman doctor at the hospital, has been removed from the list of Registered Medical Practitioners maintained by the WBMC on September 19. His licence was cancelled under various provisions of the Bengal Medical Act, 1914, he said.Meanwhile, for the first time in 41 days since the junior doctors' agitation began on August 9, a significant portion of the protesters believes that returning to work while still demanding justice for their colleague’s tragic death at RG Kar Medical College is the best course of action. On Thursday morning, junior doctors announced that their cease-work would continue, noting that while discussions with the chief secretary were “positive,” they had not received minutes that accurately reflected the conversation.
