Our officers are working hard. But the canals and rivers are full of water and every time water is drained out, more is getting inside the city. We fear that the high tide which is around 1.30pm today, may not help in our efforts to drain out the excessive water from the city. It would be around 10 PM when the situation could be expected to improve.

Several parts of the city experienced extremely heavy rainfall, with Garia recording 332 mm in just four hours. Ballygunge, Jodhpur Park, and Kalighat saw over 250 mm of rain. Many neighborhoods in south Kolkata were submerged, while north Kolkata was also severely affected. Low-lying areas including Amherst Street, Sukea Street, Thanthania, College Street, Bowbazar, and MG Road remained under water.
Heavy rainfall and waterlogged tracks in the Howrah division have forced rescheduling of multiple train services today. The following changes have been announced:
