MLA identifies illegal structures in SL mkt
Kolkata: Bidhannagar BJP MLA Sharadwat Mukherjee on Thursday inspected the BD Block community market in Salt Lake and found some unauthorised structures used by vendors to conduct business. The MLA plans to continue to inspect more market complexes in Salt Lake in the next few days and will apprise Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) authorities to look into issues and to take corrective steps."There are several blue-white tin-shed unauthorised structures just outside the market where many are doing business. I have requested them to shift out, taking some days' time," Mukherjee said. He said a community centre was coming up on the second floor of the market, and he has asked that work be stopped as of now. "It first needs to be seen whether there is a provision for a second floor to set up a community centre there," Mukherjee said."There are many unauthorised electrical lines, as well as combustible materials. Prices vary from stall to stall. Some stalls are running in the name of Sufal Bangla, which has no valid govt affiliation any more. Many are coming from outside, from areas like Bhangar, and conducting business outside the market," the MLA said.
