Stifling humidity to continue in Kolkata today: Met
Kolkata: The city endured another scorching day with the maximum temperature soaring to 35.4°C. The maximum relative humidity touched the 97% mark. With moisture flowing in from the Bay of Bengal, humidity remained high, making conditions extremely harsh, said weathermen. While the maximum temperature may hover around 35°C on Tuesday, there would be little relief from the stifling humidity, even though rain and thunderstorms are likely to continue across south Bengal districts till at least Friday, said a Regional Meteorological Centre bulletin.Thunderstorm and lightning hit some parts of east and west Burdwan, Birbhum, Murshidabad, Nadia, South and North 24 Parganas and East Midnapore on Monday. Most of the places will receive sporadic thunderstorms and rain in the next three-four 4 days. “But the relief will be temporary due to high humidity,” said RMC weather scientist, Sourish Bandyopadhyay.Conditions remained favourable for the southwest monsoon in some parts of Odisha, north Bengal, Sikkim and the Northeast in two to three days, said RMC.
