Man found hanging after allegedly attacking wife

Kozhikode: A 60-year-old man was found dead hours after allegedly attacking his wife with an iron rod and injuring her critically at their residence at Kanhangad in Kasaragod on Thursday.The deceased has been identified as Ibrahim, of Kadappuram. His wife, Mariyam (55), sustained severe injuries to her head and neck and has been admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru, where her condition is reported to be critical. According to preliminary information, neighbours heard cries from the house around 5am and rushed in and found the woman lying in a pool of blood. They immediately alerted police and arranged for her to be taken to hospital. When the man could not be located inside the house, locals searched and found him hanging from a mango tree near the residence. Police suspect that domestic disputes and may have led to the incident, though the exact motive is yet to be confirmed. Hosdurg police have registered two cases in connection with the incident. The body of Ibrahim has been shifted for autopsy. TNN
