Police also said that if necessary, the accused could be taken into custody for further questioning. Last week, Nilambur police arrested Philip on charges of allegedly sexually abusing a 16-year-old girl. Police said that the minor's family alleged that Philip sexually abused the girl at various locations, including Nilambur and Kanhangad in Kasaragod. The remand report stated that Philip used an identity card resembling a police ID to book a hotel room in Kanhangad. Police sources said that the girl's parents had taken her to the accused for counselling after she started facing mental health issues.
