Police officer suspended for MDMA case links

Kozhikode: A civil police officer formerly attached to Karipur police station has been suspended over alleged links with accused persons in an MDMA seizure case registered under the NDPS Act.The suspension followed a preliminary inquiry by the Kondotty DSP, initiated after the district special branch DSP submitted a report to the Malappuram district police chief.The inquiry found that the officer had maintained close ties with five persons arrested by Karipur police after around 40g of MDMA was seized in Jan 2026. The case was registered under Sections 22(c) and 29(1) of the NDPS Act.The suspension order also noted that the officer had failed to exercise the level of caution expected of him in his interactions with the public while serving as PRO of the station.The Vengara inspector of police has been directed to conduct an oral inquiry into the matter and submit a report within two months. tnn
