Kozhikode: IUML state president Panakkad Sadikali Shihab Thangal said that people of the state have heaved a sigh of relief with the announcement of the election as they are happy that they now have to wait only 26 days to end LDF's misrule.
He said there was no concern that the election had been announced earlier than expected. UDF is fully prepared, he said, adding that the alliance stands with people who are eager for a change of govt.
UDF had already begun its election preparations and is fully geared up for the contest, Thangal said. "UDF had described the local body polls as a semi-final battle and had said that it was waiting for the final. Now the final has been announced," Thangal added.
Meanwhile, IUML national general secretary P K Kunhalikutty said bilateral discussions and the UDF's seat-sharing arrangements had been completed. Candidate announcements would be made after discussions within the respective parties.
"The UDF is ready to face the election and the people are prepared to vote against misrule," Kunhalikutty said.
