Emotional farewell as Prateek’s ashes immersed in Ganga at Haridwar

Lucknow: Amid emotional scenes, the ashes of Prateek Yadav (38), younger stepbrother of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, were immersed in the Ganga at Haridwar on Saturday.The rituals were performed at Har Ki Pauri ghat with Vedic chants in the presence of family members, including wife Aparna Yadav, their two daughters, Tej Pratap Yadav, Akshay Yadav and Aditya Yadav. Yoga guru Baba Ramdev was also present.Priests conducted the last rites as family members paid their respects. Eyewitnesses said one of Prateek’s daughters broke down after touching the urn to her forehead before the immersion. Aparna, who carried the urn to the ghat, was seen crying inconsolably during the ceremony.The family reached Dehradun earlier in the day by chartered aircraft before proceeding to Haridwar.Prateek died in Lucknow on May 13 due to a massive blockage in the blood vessels of the lungs, leading to a collapse of the heart and respiratory system. His death had triggered shock across political and business circles in Uttar Pradesh.Though not active in politics, he was known for his ventures in real estate and fitness. He was the son of late Mulayam Singh Yadav and his second wife Sadhna Gupta.
