Former MLA resorts to criminal acts to harass tenant
LUCKNOW:Monday proved to be a shocking day for the owners of Utopia health club inGomtinagar. Being harassed by the landlords despite a high court order in theirfavour, the club owners were left dumbstruck to find their equipment worth overRs 18 lakh missing.It was later learnt from the police that thelandlords had got the equipment dismantled and shifted to another location forselling it. What's even more disturbing is that this was not thefirst instance when the landlords had broken into the tenanted portion to harassthe health club owners. In a complaint lodged with the seniorsuperintendent of police, Lucknow, Akhil Kumar on December 12, 2008, thecomplainant, Anshuman Singh, who is the club owner's son, mentions that thelandlady, former MLA, Sumanlata Dixit had been harassing them with an intent tocompel them to close the health club and leave the tenanted portion. Severalcomplaints had been lodged with the Gomtinagar police station in the past aswell, said the complaint.The owner of the club, Rana Singh hadearlier filed a writ petition (number 2925 (M/B) of 2003) in which the highcourt had passed an order on April 21, 2005, directing the parties to get theirrights adjudicated by the competent civil court and till then, the court said,"The possession of the petitioner shall not be disturbed.''
However,Dixit continuously harassed the complainant by criminal acts, says thecomplaint. On the night of December 13, 2008 and December 14, 2008 Dixit's sonShubh Pandey, Ansh Pandey, Bhav Pandey and her niece broke down the wallblocking the passage from the upper portion through the internal staircase andremoved the locks of the club, besides three televisions, two machines, sixchairs and one table along with Rs 3,800 cash and some important documents,mentions the complaint.Thereafter, on December 19, 2008 thecomplainant found that Dixit had again entered into the portion and removed allinternal doors and the main door of the gallery.The complainant had,in his complaint, requested the SSP to issue suitable directions so that theerring persons could be punished. SSP Akhil Kumar, when contacted, said that hehad asked the police station concerned to register an FIR in the connection. Theformer MLA could not be contacted despite severalattempts.
