Once operational, the expressway will significantly reduce travel time between Meerut and Prayagraj to around 6–7 hours, compared to the current 10–12 hours.

"Designed for speeds of up to 120 kmph, the expressway will cut down travel time between the two cities to approximately 6-7 hours from the current 10-12 hours," said an official.

The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) has overseen the construction and development of the expressway.

The expressway has been constructed as a 6-lane road, with provisions in place for future expansion to 8-lanes depending on traffic demand.

A 120-metre right-of-way has been used for the project, allowing space for lanes, service roads, and future infrastructure expansion.

To ensure faster execution and quality control, the entire project has been divided into four construction packages.

The expressway features two main toll plazas at Meerut and Prayagraj, along with 19 ramp toll plazas for convenient entry and exit points.

9 public utility complexes have been developed along the route, offering fuel stations, food courts, rest areas, and clean sanitation facilities.

The project includes a nearly 960-metre bridge over the Ganga and a 720-metre bridge over the Ramganga, engineered to handle flood conditions and water flow dynamics.
