Misuse of public money: Ex-judge files case in HC
Madurai: The Madras high court on Tuesday sought a response from the district administration officials on a plea moved by a retired Madras high court judge, justice A Selvam seeking action against the officials who had misused the funds for road projects at Pulankurichi village in Sivaganga district.The petitioner stated that the officials have misused nearly Rs12.7 lakh for various road projects in the village. He stated that without verifying the revenue records, roads were laid at patta and temple land parcels by misusing the public money.Though he had raised certain queries under the RTI Act regarding the road projects, no proper details were furnished by officials. Hence, the petitioner moved the HC Madurai bench seeking for a direction to conduct inquiry and take action against the officials. He also sought to recover the misused funds from the officials.A division bench of justice R Subramanian and justice L Victoria Gowri, which heard the plea, adjourned the hearing to a further date.TNN
