Addict strangles teacher wife to death in Rampur

Meerut: A 33-year-old govt schoolteacher was allegedly strangled to death by her husband in Shiv Vihar Colony in Rampur, police said on Tuesday. A milkman found Ekta Singh dead at her rented residence on Monday morning after he received no response at the door and alerted the landlord.Police said Ekta’s husband Rahul was not at home and could not be contacted. Officers later found him at a de-addiction rehabilitation centre in Meerut, where he had checked in shortly after the incident.An officer said, “Rahul travelled to Meerut with the couple’s 5-year-old son on Sunday evening in an intoxicated state and handed over the child to his younger brother. He confessed during interrogation.”
