Mumbai: The city economic offences wing (EOW), probing the alleged submission of forged documents by the accused to get contracts for jumbo Covid-19 centres at Worli and Dahisar, on Monday questioned Suraj Chavan, a Yuva Sena functionary and close aide of
Aaditya Thackeray, for around six hours.
Last August, Azad Maidan police had booked Lifeline Hospital Management Services and its partners, Dr Hemant Gupta, Sujit Patkar,
Sanjay Shah and Raju Salunkhe, for allegedly fraudulently bagging a contract for setting up jumbo centres, causing a loss of Rs 38 crore to the BMC.
EOW took over the case and on February 28 arrested two accused.
Enforcement Directorate, which is also probing the money laundering angle, has shared with EOW some information where Chavan’s name has cropped up. EOW is now inquiring about it to find out if it has links with the current case.tnn
