Mumbai hits all-time high peak power demand of 4,608 MW
Mumbai: City recorded an all-time high peak power demand of 4,608 MW on Monday, stretching the city’s electricity network as temperatures and humidity climbed. Utilities Tata Power and Adani Electricity procured over 3,700 MW from external sources, including green energy wheeled in from outside Mumbai, to bridge the gap between demand and local generation.Heavier use of fans and air-conditioners across homes and offices drove consumption, while data centres continued to add significant load. Local generation contributed only 868 MW in total, with Tata Power producing 574 MW and Adani Electricity generating 294 MW.
