Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde on Monday said that work on many projects stalled during the MVA regime had been resumed.

He said, "Public would see the work. EC is autonomous and has taken the decision on merit. We have filed lakhs of affidavits, and many of the affidavits filed by the Uddhav group are bogus".

Maharashtra on Monday reported 11 Covid-19 cases, which took the tally to 81,37,409, while the death toll stood unchanged at 1,48,421, a health official said. Mumbai circle led with seven cases, followed by two in Akola and one each in Nashik and Pune circles, respectively. (PTI)

EC decision on Sena: Maha CM taking forward legacy of Bal Thackeray, says Jyotiraditya Scindia

Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Monday said Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was taking forward the legacy of Shiv Sena founder late Bal Thackeray and the people of that state were with him.

He was speaking a couple of days after the Election Commission declared Shinde's faction as the real Shiv Sena and allowed it the use of the bow and arrow symbol, which dealt a blow to Uddhav Thackeray whose father founded the outfit in 1966.

"Shinde is taking forward the legacy of Balasaheb Thackeray. The people of Maharashtra are with him and the BJP-Shiv Sena government there," he told reporters on Sunday night. (PTI)

A Shinde faction insider said that while a cabinet expan sion may help them get more MLAs to switch loyalties and also send out a message that CM Shinde is in control of the government, no cabinet expansion will take place unless the BJP comes on board. The BJP, it is learnt, may not be so keen on a cabinet expansion, at least for now.
