Surpassing the previous single-day spike of 24,886 registered on September 11, 2020, Maharashtra has witnessed a new high of new coronavirus positive cases on Thursday. The health officials stated that 25,833 people tested positive in the last 24 hours. The total caseload is now 23,96,340. Meanwhile, 58 people succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours. The total death toll stands at 53,138. On the other hand, 12,764 patients have been discharged post-recovery in the last 24 hours, the health department further added. The total number of people who got cured and discharged from the state stands at 21,75,565. There are presently 1,66,353 active cases in Maharashtra.

Read more...Maharashtra reported a significant spike in daily Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, adding 23,179, the highest in six months (cases numbered 24,619 on September 17, 2020). The increase was 30% over Tuesday, taking the state’s caseload to 23,70,507. To put the spike in perspective, from March 1 to March 17, daily cases in the state have gone up four times. Also, Covid fatalities in the state have crossed the 53,000 mark; after the addition of 84 deaths on Wednesday, the state’s Covid toll reached 53,080.
