KSRTC bus topples in MM Hills; 30 passengers injured
Mysuru: Over 30 people travelling in a KSRTC bus sustained injuries after the bus toppled at Talebetta in MM Hills in Hanur taluk of Chamarajanagar district on Friday.Police said the injured, most of whom were residents of Mysuru and Kollegal and its surroundings, were returning to their hometown after having darshan of Lord Male Mahadeshwara at Male Mahadeshwar Temple atop the hills.The bus was headed to Mysuru. The driver of the bus lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the accident, police said. Passengers, including bus conductor Padmavathi, who was sitting on the right side of the vehicle, sustained injuries. The injured were taken to nearby govt hospitals for treatment, such as Kowdalli primary health centre, Hanur health centre, Kollegal sub-division hospital, while some were rushed to KR Hospital in Mysuru.On receiving the information, Hanur MLA MR Manjunath arranged required ambulance facilities and discussed with Chamarajanagar district health officer Dr Chidambaram. By taking the help of the localities, members of Kannada organisations, police shifted the injured to the hospitals.Hanur taluk tahasildar Chaitra Hanur, taluk health officer Dr Prakash, enquired about the health of the injured at Hanur health centre.
MM Hills police have registered a case and investigation is on.Govt buses speed on the hills: ResidentsLocals expressed displeasure at district health authorities for delay in arranging ambulance facilities to shift the injured for treatment. They also expressed their anger over speeding by govt buses as the MM Hills Temple stretch from Talebetta to the temple. They demanded action against negligent and rash driving by govt bus drivers.
