Truck rams barricade, injures cop; driver held

Nagpur: A speeding truck allegedly rammed a police barricade near Wadi during an inspection drive on Nagpur-Amravati highway in the early hours of Wednesday, seriously injuring a constable attached to the MIDC traffic division. The truck driver allegedly tried to flee, but alert motorists intercepted the truck and handed him over to police. The incident took place between 1.15-1.30am when traffic police were conducting a drive within Wadi police station. Police said the recklessly driven truck crashed into a barricade which hit constable Santosh Kangulwar, who sustained severe injuries. Wadi police identified the accused as Laxman Pahadkar (47), a resident of Takli in Wardha. Based on a complaint, cops registered an offence under the BNS and MV Act.
