Nashik:Revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has ordered the district administration to form a committee, headed by the sub-divisional magistrate, to solve issues raised by farmers in Igatpuri-Trimbakeshwar talukas about the land acquisition process for construction of the ring road in the city.
The ring road is supposed to be constructed before the Simhastha Kumbh Mela.
District collector Ayush Prasad, "We are facing issues on identifying the strip, which is currently with the public works department (PWD), and the quantum of land to be acquired from farmers so that they can get the payment accordingly."
"Villagers in Igatpuri and Trimbakeshwar talukas claimed that the areas that are to be acquired are bigger, but the areas in the records seem to be relatively less. This usually happens from improperly marked dimensions of the roads and also because the strip narrows down significantly. This results in a lack of uniformity of the land that is with the PWD. Farmers have sought the help of revenue minister," the collector added.
Farmers in Dindori and Sinnar talukas are also facing a similar problem, but with smaller quantum of land.
"Farmers in these Dindori and Sinnar have taken this issue up with the PWD. Farmers have also raised the matter with revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule. He has ordered a committe headed by SDO (Igatpuri-Trimbakeshwar), Tahsildar and land records officer to get the exact status of the land with the PWD. He ordered a report of the fresh land aquisition that has to be submitted at the earliest," said collector.
