9-year-old girl dies after being run over by truck in Bhojpur; another injured
Ara: A nine-year-old girl was crushed to death by a speeding truck, while her six-year-old friend was injured in an accident on the Sakaddi–Nasriganj Road near Kosihan village under Chandi police station of Bhojpur district on Thursday night. The deceased has been identified as Rohini Kumari (9), daughter of Kundan Nat. The injured girl is her co-villager, Anushka Kumari (6).According to police, angered by the alleged reckless driving and the loss of a young life, locals blocked the busy Sakaddi–Nasriganj Road for over six hours, bringing traffic to a halt. They demanded adequate compensation for the bereaved family and strict action to curb reckless driving. “The jam was lifted around 12.30am on Friday after assurances and intervention by the local police,” a police officer told TOI.

“The driver has been arrested and the truck involved in the accident seized. The injured girl has been admitted to Sadar hospital, Ara, where she is undergoing treatment. The deceased girl’s body has been sent for post-mortem. Further investigation is underway,” said Vinod Kumar Singh, additional SHO of Chandi police station.According to the injured girl’s family members, Rohini and Anushka were on their way to buy biscuits from a nearby shop in Kosihan village when the accident occurred. Rohini was the second of three siblings—one brother and one sister.
