Buxar law graduate donates blood 83 times, inspires many
Buxar: Priyesh Ranjan, 34, a resident of Satyadev Ganj, has become a symbol of selfless service through his consistent blood donation work. Popularly known in the district as ‘Khoon Ka Karkhana’, he has donated blood more than 83 times, helping save lives during medical emergencies.
A law graduate by qualification, Priyesh chose social service as his calling. He donated blood for the first time in 2007 at a camp in Buxar and has continued regularly ever since.
“In my younger days, I saw families struggling to arrange blood during emergencies. Some lost their lives due to unavailability. That motivated me to donate regularly,” he said.
To promote voluntary blood donation, Priyesh founded ‘Beautiful Life Only on Donating Blood’. The group now has 491 members, with 26 actively participating in donation drives and motivating others.
The team organises around 15 camps every month. On May 26, during a mass marriage event at Quila Ground on Ganga Dussehra, they donated 55 units of blood.
Priyesh also recalled an incident during the Covid lockdown when he was stopped and beaten by police while going to donate blood to a thalassemia patient. Later, then DM Aman Sameer intervened, enabling him to donate and save the boy’s life.
His efforts have earned recognition at district and state levels. In 2023, he was honoured by then deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav. He has also received appreciation from UNICEF officials, former health minister Mangal Pandey, IG Vikas Vaibhav, the Bihar Red Cross Society and the district administration.
Dr Shrawan Tiwari, secretary of the Indian Red Cross Society, Buxar, said awareness about blood donation was earlier low. “Due to Priyesh’s efforts, especially among youth, voluntary participation has increased significantly,” he said.
“My brother urgently needed blood after an accident. Priyesh reached within hours and arranged donors. He gave us hope during the toughest moment,” said Ravi Kumar of Buxar.
“When my child was admitted to hospital, we could not find blood anywhere. Priyesh and his team helped us immediately. We will always remain thankful to him,” said Shabnam Khatoon of Ara.
“Priyesh proves that humanity still exists. His dedication saved many lives, including my father’s during surgery,” said Amit Singh of Varanasi.
Known for quick response during emergencies, Priyesh often travels to cities like Prayagraj and Varanasi to arrange blood for patients.
