The CBI on Tuesday questioned former railway minister and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad for nearly five hours in two sessions in the land for jobs scam case. The case pertains to people allegedly given employment in the railways in return for land parcels gifted or sold at cheap rates to the Yadav family and its associates. Hours after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) started questioning Lalu Prasad Yadav in the land-for-jobs case, the former Bihar CM's daughter Rohini Acharya alleged that her father is being "harassed". Taking to Twitter, she said that if anything happens to her father, she will "not spare anyone".

CBI officials asked to follow medical protocol during Lalu yadav questioning
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials, who were grilling former Union minister Lalu Yadav in land-for-jobs case on Tuesday were asked to maintain adequate distancing and use masks during questioning with the latter as he had recently underwent a kidney surgery in Singapore.
"Lalu Yadav has kidney transplanted recently and it is necessary to maintain sufficient distance and wear mask because Lalu Yadav is at risk of infection and allergy," sources told ANI.

The CBI on Tuesday questioned former railway minister Lalu Prasad for nearly two hours in connection with the land for jobs scam case where people were allegedly given employment in the railways in return for land parcels gifted or sold at cheap rates to the Yadav family and its associates, officials said.The examination of the RJD supremo comes a day after his wife and former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi was quizzed at her Patna residence by the agency for nearly five hours.The entire exercise was videographed during which Prasad was confronted with some documents in a special room where he is quarantined post his kidney transplant surgery, the officials said. CBI chargesheet claims land was acquired at prices lower than the prevailing circle rate
The CBI chargesheet says, it was found that the accused in conspiracy with the then GM Central Railways and CPO, Central Railways engaged persons as substitutes in lieu of land either in their name or in the name of their close relatives. This land was acquired at prices lower than the prevailing circle rate and much lower than the market rate. It was also alleged that the candidates have used false TC and submitted false attested documents to the Ministry of Railways, said the CBI statement.

Questioning part of 'further investigation'
CBI sources say a fresh round of questioning is taking place as part of "further investigation" where the investigation agency is trying to ascertain the money trail and larger conspiracy. The fresh questioning of ailing Prasad, who was convicted in a fodder scam, and his wife had evoked sharp criticism from opposition parties on Monday.

CBI has already filed a chargesheet in the case against Prasad, Rabri Devi and 14 others under charges of criminal conspiracy and provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, in which all the accused have been summoned on March 15.

CBI at Rabri Devi's home because of family's strong opposition to BJP: Tejashwi Yadav
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav on Monday claimed that the CBI team's visit to the residence of his mother and ex-CM Rabri Devi was a result of his family's "relentless opposition to the ruling BJP at the Centre". He also asserted that his father Lalu Prasad, who has been named in the land for jobs case, had "no powers" to provide employment in exchange of favours as the then railway minister.

The Congress on Monday condemned the questioning of former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi by the CBI at her residence in Patna, alleging that the BJP wants to "suppress" the voice of the Opposition. The CBI has learnt in the probe that Rabri Devi and Hema Yadav were gifted land in connection with the scam by job seekers who were later appointed in railways. Haridayanand Chaudhary, a railway employee and Bhola Yadav, the then OSD to former former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav were earlier arrested by the CBI.

Chargesheet has already been filed in CBI court
"We are doing further investigation in the matter," a CBI source said. The central probe agency has got the prosecution sanction against against former railway minister Lalu Prasad in the matter. In January, the agency furnished the prosecution sanction letter before the concerned court.
