Patna: A 27-year-old man was seriously injured after unidentified assailants opened fire on him near a hotel on the border of the Fatuha and Khusrupur police station areas in Patna district on Sunday.
The injured man, Vikas Kumar alias Sikandar of Nalanda district, was on his way for personal work when three unidentified bike-borne attackers intercepted him around 1pm and fired at him, police said. He sustained a bullet injury to his left arm.
Despite being wounded, Vikas displayed courage and rode his motorcycle for over 5km before reaching a police vehicle. Police immediately shifted him to the Fatuha Community Health Centre, from where he was referred to Patna Medical College Hospital for better treatment after first aid.
Additional SHO Chandan Kumar said, “The case is being thoroughly investigated based on the statement of the injured and other available evidence. Raids are on and the culprits will be arrested soon.”
Police are also scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify and trace the attackers, who fled immediately after the shooting.
