Punjab woman stabbed, robbed in Patna City

Patna: A Sikh woman, who had come here from Punjab for Prakash Parv celebrations marking the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh, was stabbed and robbed in Patna City on Sunday morning.Uttam Preet Kaur, a resident of Gurdaspur in Punjab, was walking with her aunt Sarvjeet Kaur from Takht Shri Harmandir Sahib Gurudwara to Bal Leela Gurdwara through Sankin Gali when two unidentified assailants attacked them with a knife. The attackers snatched Rs 8,000 in cash and a cellphone. Kaur sustained injuries while resisting the robbery and was immediately taken to Nalanda Medical College Hospital in Patna, where she was given first aid and later discharged.Chowk station house officer Dinesh Kumar said, “A formal complaint has been registered under case number 559/25, and an investigation is underway.”Police said CCTV footage from the surrounding areas is being examined and raids are being conducted to nab the accused, adding that arrests will be made soon. The incident occurred despite heightened security arrangements for Prakash Parv with the Patna DM and SSP having held several meetings to ensure the safety of devotees.Earlier, the body of an elderly Sikh devotee from Punjab, Kulwant Singh (70), was found in bushes near a gurdwara on Dec 25. Police suspect he died due to cold.
