Preliminary investigation revealed that a 17-year-old boy allegedly made objectionable remarks at two girls aged 16 and 14, both residents of Farsh Bazar. When the girls objected, the juvenile allegedly assaulted them, police said. Hearing the commotion, the girls’ cousins—also minors—intervened and confronted the accused, leading to a heated argument that soon escalated into a physical scuffle, a senior police officer said. Police said the accused then called his friends, also juveniles, to the spot. During the ensuing altercation, the two cousins sustained minor injuries. A scooter parked nearby was also damaged in the chaos. “All minors involved in the incident have been identified and apprehended.
No grievous injuries were reported,” the officer said. The injured minors were provided medical assistance and are stated to be in stable condition. Police are assessing the extent of damage caused to the two-wheeler. A case has been registered under relevant sections pertaining to assault, eve-teasing, molestation and damage to property. As all those involved are minors, further proceedings will be conducted under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act. Counselling of the juveniles and their guardians will also be undertaken as part of the legal process, police said, adding that further investigation is underway.
