AURANGABAD: The anti-corruption cell of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday raided the house and business premises of assistant commissioner of income-tax (I-T), Sheshrao Ingle, and seized Rs 8 lakh in cash, 1 kg gold and documents showing several plots in his and his family members’ names.
It was found that Ingle’s family owns a number of plots in Cidco and Chikalthana industrial estates in the city and in Akola, Jalna and other cities.
The raid was a part of a nation-wide drive launched by the CBI.
Sources said 80 such raids were carried out at different places throughout the country on Saturday.
The Ingle family was busy celebrating the inauguration their new restaurant ‘Pisces‘, which serves only fish, when the raid was carried out.
The CBI has registered offence against Ingle under the prevention of corruption Act, 1988, for possessing assets disproportionate to known sources of income. Ingle had started his career as a junior clerk at Jalna 20 years ago.
