'Celluloid Man' honours the contribution of P K Nair to disseminate film culture in India. He was called as the Henry Langlois of India. He traveled across the country to acquire film prints that make the history of Indian cinema. By the time he retired in 1991, NFAI had a coveted collection of 12,000 films from a start up 124 films. He is credited with collecting the timeless films of masters such as De Sica, Kurosawa and Ingmar Bergman. He also set up a film circulation library for film lovers.
Dungarpur said, "Nair built the Archive can by can in a country where the archiving of cinema is considered unimportant. The fact that the archive still has nine precious silent films of the 1700 silent films made in India, and that Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Indian cinema, has a place in history today is because of Nair. He influenced generations of Indian filmmakers and showed us new world through the prism of cinema."
Telluride Film Festival (TFF) has narrowed down nearly 100 feature films, short films and revivals to be screened at its 39th edition.
