PUNE : The court of additional sessions judge S V Mane on Friday granted interim anticipatory bail to criminal lawyer Vijay Dabhade and his wife Rupali in connection with an atrocities case filed against them by Prakash Salve, father of Akash, a prime suspect in the suicide case of Dabhade's daughter Shrusti.
The Dabhade couple moved the district and sessions court here for seeking anticipatory bail fearing arrest after the Talegaon Dabhade police booked them under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocity) Act on a complaint registered by Prakash Salve.
Salve in his complaint has alleged that the Dabhades had allegedly abused him in the name of his caste in a filthy language on the morning of October 15, the day Shrusti committed suicide.
Shrusti had committed suicide by jumping from a water tank in Talegaon Dabhade, following harassment by Akash. The incident created law and order problems in the area as the police had failed to act on Dabhade's complaint against Akash.
The Pune rural police had later suspended inspector Rajendra Patil the then in charge of the Talegaon Dabhade police station and two policemen for negligence.
Dabhade is one of the suspects involved in the murder of RTI activist Satish Shetty. He is presently out on bail.
