Rajkot: The Surendranagar local crime branch (LCB) seized a large consignment of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 76.56 lakh from a truck near Sedla village in Bajana police station limits.
According to police, 11,220 bottles of IMFL were found in a truck parked within the Sedla village limits. Together with the truck and other items, the value of the seizure is around Rs 1 crore.
Surendranagar police registered a case against the truck owner, the truck driver, an unidentified person who allegedly sent the liquor consignment and the intended recipient, Bilkishbanu Malek.
Surendranagar LCB inspector J J Jadeja said teams from crime branch and the parole-furlough squad had been deployed on highways and border areas of the district in view of the ongoing local body election process.
A case has been registered under the prohibition laws at Bajana police station.
