Bokaro: The Chas Municipal Corporation has launched a drive against underconstruction buildings that were being allegedly raised without approved maps or legal permission, officials said.
Civic officials inspected and identified several illegal constructions located in areas under its jurisdiction. Works on the unauthorised constructions were stopped. Notices are being served to owners, directing them to appear before the corporation office with all necessary documents. Those failing to respond within the stipulated deadline could face demolition of illegal structures, officials warned.
Chas civic body additional commissioner Sanjeev Kumar said, “Illegal constructions would not be tolerated under any circumstances. The campaign would continue. Strict legal action would be taken against those flouting municipal rules under the Municipal Act.”
Meanwhile, the civic body has also begun the process of regularising temporary and unauthorised structures under the Jharkhand Regularisation of Unauthorised Constructed Building Rules, 2026.
“Property owners must apply on the Building Plan Approval Management System portal within 60 days of the notification. Offline applications will not be accepted under any circumstances. They must also prepare updated building maps through licensed architects or engineers based on the current status of the structure,” officials said.
The corporation’s twin approach of enforcement and regularisation is aimed at tightening urban planning compliance while giving eligible property owners a limited chance to legalise existing buildings.
