Dhanbad Judicial Officers Lead Awareness March Against Substance Abuse
Dhanbad: Judicial officers of the Dhanbad civil court took out an awareness march on Monday to educate the public about the harmful effects of substance abuse. The march was organised under the “DAWN” programme run by the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JSLSA) with the objective of building a drug-free and healthy society.The foot march began from the court premises and passed through prominent nearby localities before concluding at the court complex. During the march, judicial officers held banners and posters carrying slogans against drug addiction, urging people to choose a healthy lifestyle. The initiative drew the attention of passers-by and residents, spreading awareness about the social and personal consequences of substance abuse. Addressing the gathering, Principal District and Sessions Judge Bal Krishna Tiwari said that drug addiction not only ruins an individual’s physical and mental health but also weakens families and society. “Substance abuse often leads to crime, domestic violence, and economic distress, making it a serious social challenge that requires collective efforts to combat. We appeal to citizens, especially the youth, to remain vigilant and resist the lure of drugs for the sake of their future,” he said.
District Legal Services Authority Secretary-cum-Civil Judge Mayank Tushar Topno stated that the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority continuously works not only to promote legal awareness but also to fight against social evils such as drug addiction. He added that awareness campaigns like this march play a crucial role in sensitising people and encouraging community participation in social reform.A large number of judicial officers and court officials participated in the march.
