Jamshedpur: The Chakradharpur division railways cancelled six passenger trains on the Rourkela-Chakradharpur, the Rourkela-Jharsuguda, and the Rourkela-Nuagaon sections from January 7 to 9, for fifth time in past 18 days.
These are Tata-Barbil-Tata MEMU (68125/68126), Chakradharpur-Tata-Kharagpur-Tata-CKP MEMU (68010/68009), Tata-Gua-Tata MEMU (68019/68020), Tata-Rourkela-Tata MEMU (68043/68044), Hatia-Jharsuguda-Hatia MEMU (18175/18176), and Birmitrapur-Barsuan-Birmitrapur passenger (58151/58152).
Chakradharpur senior divisional commercial manager Aditya Choudhary said, “A joint team of the railway security and forest officials of Jharkhand and Odisha are camping on the identified tracks to monitor the movement of the trains. The decision pertaining to the cancellation of the trains is taken on the alert by the forest officials. Unavoidable cancellations are being made to ensure minimum trouble to the commuters and wildlife.”
The prevailing foggy conditions are also a factor behind the cancellations on the route, which passes through semi-forested area. “SOPs are being followed for the trains which are in operation on the sections. Trains which are running on the routes are being strictly monitored and regulated,” he stated.
The divisional railway had earlier cancelled five passenger trains on December 18 and 19, four on December 20 and 21, eight on December 22 to 24, and six from December 25 to 28.
