Jharkhand Rajya Sabha Polls: 2 Seats Up for Grabs on June 18, Parties Gear Up
Ranchi: As Election Commission announced polls for 24 seats in Rajya Sabha, including two from Jharkhand, on June 18, political parties in the state have begun preparations to field their candidates.Of the two seats, one fell vacant following the demise of JMM leader Shibu Soren. The second seat is currently held by BJP leader Deepak Prakash, who will complete his six-year term on June 21. The notification for the polls will be issued on June 1.While JMM spokesperson could not be contacted, Congress spokesman Rakesh Sinha said, “Congress aims to contest from one of the seats. A talk will be held with the partners.”The BJP also signalled readiness to enter the contest, though it said the final call is pending.The JMM spokesman could not be contacted for comment.
