Palamu Police Bust Illicit Mobile Phone Refurbishing Factory in Daltonganj
Daltonganj: Panki police in Palamu have unearthed a mini-factory of illicit refurbished and assembled mobile phones on Monday. Two youths, identified as Vikalp Kumar Singh (30), and Ranjit Kumar (24), both hailing from Panki block, were nabbed and remanded to judicial custody. They were booked under various sections of the BNS, the Trade Mark Act, and the Environment Conservation Act.Palamu SP Reeshma Ramesan said, "They had no licence for refurbishing and assembling mobile phones. They did it clandestinely." Police have seized 112 pieces of mother boards, 335 phones of a two brands.

“Such was the enormity of this malpractice that police recovered three bags of e-waste material,” added the SP.She informed that both the accused persons used to sell these refurbished and assembled phones in attractive packets at prices of their own.Way back in 2017, there was a company which discarded its key pad mobile phones. The discarded mobile phones were recycled here, said police sources.On being asked if the officials of the two brands whose phones were found, apprised of this clandestine business, the SP said, "Our officers are working on it. It's for the companies to initiate a criminal case under the Copyright Act. Police can't do this."These refurbished and assembled mobile phones had sale outlets in Daltonganj too. Police said they have identified a couple of shops in Daltonganj for further action.
