Son kills father in Pakur district; suspect had history of violence and intoxication

Dumka: A 37-year-old man was arrested for killing his father at Kitajhor village in Pakur district on Tuesday night, police said.Anoop Sardar allegedly killed his father, Divakar Sardar (60), after a dispute at home.Police, quoting family members, said Anoop called his father, who lived separately, to his house to discuss something on Tuesday night.The discussion soon escalated into an argument and in a fit of rage, Anoop attacked Divakar with a sickle, killing him on the spot.After the murder, the accused allegedly remained seated beside the body throughout the night.Anoop’s daughter, Varsha Sardar, alleged that her father was a drunkard and often assaulted family members. Neighbours and relatives said he had a history of violence, including an earlier attempt to burn his wife alive. Police said the accused confessed and was sent to judicial custody on Wednesday.
