Rainwater drainage work begins in two zones of Salem corporation
SALEM: Minister for tourism R Rajendran on Tuesday inaugurated construction work on rainwater drainages worth Rs 31 lakh in Ammapettai and Hastampatti zones of the Salem corporation. A rainwater drainage would be constructed in Kannakuppillai Street in Hastampatti zone at a cost of Rs 8 lakh under the 15th Central Finance Commission 2025-26 plan. In the Molapattiyan area of the zone, drains would be constructed at a cost of Rs 13 lakh.In Ammapet zone, a canal will be constructed at a cost of Rs 10 lakh to divert flood water from the Gandhi Statue Bose Maidan area into the Thirumanimutharu river. Rajendran said chief minister MK Stalin had implemented various schemes for the benefit of all people. "Corporations, municipalities, town panchayats and village panchayats are providing balanced development to all the areas," he said.District collector R Brindha Devi, mayor A Ramachandran, corporation commissioner M Elangovan and others accompanied the minister as he inaugurated construction of drains in each place.
