Surat: Surat will host the Surat International Textile and Machinery Expo (SITME 2026) for four days from Jan 9 at the Surat International Exhibition and Convention Centre (SIECC), Sarsana. The exhibition is jointly organised by the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) and the Surat Embroidery Association (SEA).
More than 12,000 visitors from across the country have already registered for the exhibition, indicating strong industry interest. Organisers expect over 25,000 attendees, citing high enquiries and the range of machinery on display. Due to overwhelming demand from manufacturers for stalls, additional exhibition space was arranged.
"Considering the demand, instead of three days, the exhibition is being held for four days. The huge response from exhibitors shows its success," said Nikhil Madrasi, president of SGCCI.
Organisers said the exhibition will feature advanced position embroidery machinery that enables handwork and khatli work through machines, benefiting multiple textile segments such as position printing, embroidery, jacquard and Schiffli.
This technology is expected to support the further growth of the sector.
For the first time in India, a live demonstration of a single-head embroidery machine will be presented at SITME 2026, allowing traditional Zardosi hand embroidery to be reproduced through machines.
Additionally, a specially designed nylon thread for embroidery beads machinery will be launched at the exhibition. The thread offers operational advantages and can be used across embroidery beads machinery.
